A Long Weekend

I hope that everyone has been enjoying their long weekend.  The extra day for teachers was very relaxing for me.  I was able to spend some time with my younger sister.  It looks like we are in for two more wonderful weekend days - nice weather, and fall colors.

This coming week is filled with activities.  We are in for some fun! Ms. Sawyer, Mrs. Pokwinski, and I will be helping out the Kindergarden teachers on Tuesday when they are completing some testing.  The Kindergardeners will be coming to our three classrooms for the afternoon.  We will be making crafts with them, reading to them, and enjoying some playtime outside.  I am looking forward to seeing all of my students bond with and be role-modles for the youngest Badger students.

Our class, along with three other intermediate classrooms, will be doing Fall Rotations on Friday afternoon.  We know that our students are going to be very excited for any Halloween activities that might be planned for that night, so we decided to switch our schedule a little bit.  Instead of Math, recess, and WIN,  we will be spending the afternoon rotating through the four different classrooms.  Students in each homeroom are going to be divided up into four groups and send to a different room to partake in various fall activities with other intermediate students (making a healthy snack, creating movie trailers on the iPads, mystery math, and Chromebook fun).  We think that this will be a nice way to end our week together!

Remember to check in with your child after school as often as you can.  Be positive about school and encourage your child to continue to make good choices and follow school/classroom expectations.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Frost!

As I'm sitting at home enjoying this Sunday morning, looking at the frost on the ground, I can't help but be a tiny bit excited for the first snowfall of the year - hopefully not for another few weeks though!

We have a short week this week.  Thursday and Friday are off for students.

On Tuesday, we will be taking our Unit 2 test.  Please be sure to help your child study and become more prepared for this test by working the the review packet that was sent home on Friday.  I create  reviews by choosing questions that reflect what they will be required to do on the test. We will start Unit 3 after we come back from our long weekend - back to fractions!

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Sunday!
